How can poetry help us process and respond to uncertainty? How might it teach us to grieve as well as heal? To generate urgency around the crucial problems of our time? In this class, we’ll write brave poems that address “big” topics, both timeless and timely. We’ll discuss an aspect of craft each week, but our primary focus will be on workshopping new poems. By the end of the class, students will have composed four new poems, expanded their identities as poets, and formed a community with other writers whose words aim to take on the world. This class is open to students who have taken at least one writing workshop previously.
Class format: Zoom
Dates: Wednesdays, January 20 – February 10 (4 weeks), 6-8pm.
